Paul Simon on Jimmy Fallon

World traveling Paul Simon has been to all the corners of the Earth to create his unmistakably unique sound, visiting Kenya and South Africa, but most of the production on his latest album, So Beautiful or So What was done right in the comfort of his Connecticut home recording studio. Recently, the Paul Simon Tour has scheduled intimate club dates like his show last night at the music box in Los Angeles. Paul Simon is also making all the requisite PR stops, most notably on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon where he performed a rousing rendition of Simon and Garfunkel hit Cecelia with the New York art-dance troupe Stomp and Jimmy Fallon on guitar singing Art Garfunkel's part(!).

Simon...and Garfunkel?!?

Longtime Paul Simon collaborator Art Garfunkel has hinted that there might be Simon and Garfunkel reunion toward the end of 2011. Garfunkel is currently recovering from vocal cord paresis which he was diagnosed with in 2010 but believes he may be fully healed and ready to sing again by the end of the year. We're already lucky enough to have Paul Simon tickets this year but imagine hearing old classic's like Mrs. Robinson, The Boxer and Cecilia live again? Get well soon Art!

Remember The Capeman

Few people remember the Broadway disaster that was Paul Simon's The Capeman. In 1998 Simon wrote a musical based on the Capeman murders in New York in 1959 which featured Marc Anthony and Ruben Blades and received a critical panning and anemic box office receipts. Does this remind you of another more recent Broadway catastrophe? Maybe Bono and the Edge can join Simon for a beer to commisserate and share notes about their mutual flops. Simon empathized with former Spiderman: The Musical director Julie Taymor who was fired from the show recently after creative differences with the producers.

Back from the studio, Paul Simon is releasing his first album in five years and his self-professed best in 20, entitled So Beautiful or So What. The album is a return to form for Simon, featuring his core strength songwriting and organic melodies with a little help from his friends. Bluegrass, Indian and gospel musicians round out Simon's gentle guitar picking and playful lyrics about spirituality in the modern age. Simon is on tour now in support of the album, grab your Paul Simon tickets before it's too late!

The Dead keep truckin'

New Year's Day came with a fantastic announcement for Deadheads everywhere, as the surviving members of the Grateful Dead have announced a 2009 The Dead tour that has everyone in music going bananas. Eveyone is crazy about seeing some of the best musicians of all time go at it one last time. Don't wait to check them out because these guys are for real. You should check out two sites I found that are all about the band. Grateful Dead tickets has a bunch of info about the classic band and some touring info, while Dead tickets is about the new members and the current tour.
